Unit Introduction

Unit Introduction:

Since August 1, 2025 (Year 114 in the ROC calendar), the Environmental Safety and Health Section under the Office of General Affairs has been upgraded to a first-level unit and renamed as the Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety and Health Office. The office is responsible for environmental protection, occupational safety and health, chemical safety, and laboratory waste management.

It is headed by one Director, appointed by the University President, who may be an Associate Professor or above with relevant expertise in teaching or research, or a staff member concurrently serving. Additional administrative staff may be assigned as needed according to business requirements.

Ying-Ju Lai Specialist – Responsible for:
• Waste generation, storage, and reporting
• Declaration of toxic and concerned chemical substances
• Soil pollution prevention reporting
• Indoor air quality monitoring and reporting
• Application for approval documents of toxic chemicals
• Management of general, hazardous, and infectious waste disposal and storage facilities
• Preparation and amendment of waste management plans
• Establishment and implementation of indoor air quality maintenance plans
• Environmental protection activities and resource recycling
• Occupational safety and health management, including labor incident reporting, declaration of hazardous and priority chemicals, and precursor chemicals
• Formulation of safety and health work rules, regulations, and management measures
• Annual occupational safety and health management plans
• Hazard communication programs and laboratory environment monitoring
• Training for occupational safety and emergency response personnel
• Promotion of chemical safety and occupational health in laboratories
• Regular meetings of the Environmental Protection and Safety and Health Committee
• On-site services by occupational physicians and nurses, including prevention programs for ergonomic hazards, abnormal workload-induced diseases, maternal health protection for female workers, and prevention of unlawful workplace infringements
